Before the declaration of gubernatorial election results in Kano, the state government imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew across the state.

A statement issued by the State commissioner for Information and Internal affairs, Muhammad Garba, early hour on Monday, the decision has become pertinent to avoid a breakdown of law and order following tensions generated from the collation of results of the governorship and state Assembly elections.

Garba alleged that some hoodlums are already mounting tension to cause chaos in the already tense situation. The Commissioner called on people in the state to remain indoors as security agents would not spare anyone or group bent on causing trouble.

Meanwhile, on Monday morning, residents of the State were in a celebratory mood, as they were seen walking on the streets to celebrate the victory of Abba Kabir, the NNPPs governorship candidate.

The Kano State Government had ordered a dawn-to-dusk curfew to prevent a breakdown in law and order due to rising tensions during the collation of results.
